Repeat Prescriptions and Ongoing Referrals

An appointment is usually necessary to review a medical condition prior to the issuing of repeat prescriptions or ongoing referrals. This is not only to satisfy medico-legal obligations, but also to ensure optimal patient management and treatment.

This applies particularly if it has been more than 3 months since a patient has been to the practice.

Occasionally, the doctor decides an appointment is not necessary, and a non-rebatable fee of $25 is charged to cover the doctor's administrative time.

In the case of an Emergency Script or On The Day Referral a fee of $30.00 will apply.

A period of 24 hours’ notice is required for prescriptions and referrals to be available for collection from Reception.

there are various forms of receiving your script:

1.  Paper and you collect from our reception

2.  Paper and our reception will fax to your nominated chemist

3.  Electronically – eSCRIPT – sent to your mobile phone

Electronic prescriptions are part of the broader digital health and medicines safety framework. They enable the prescribing, dispensing, and claiming of medicines, without the need for a paper prescription.

Electronic prescribing does not fundamentally change existing prescribing and dispensing processes. Patients can still choose which pharmacy they attend to fill their prescription.
